Permanent coverage, adjustable terms

Universal Life Insurance in Buffalo Grove

Flexible lifetime coverage for households in Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and nearby communities.

Flexibility Is Useful Only If the Funding Holds

Universal life insurance is permanent coverage built around an account. Premiums go into the account, the insurer deducts the monthly cost of insurance and expenses, and whatever remains earns interest. Within the contract's limits you can raise or lower premium payments and adjust the face amount. That structure appeals to people whose income does not arrive evenly: business owners, commissioned salespeople, consultants and households where bonuses make up a large share of pay. Universal life often opens below whole life pricing for a comparable face amount. The trade-off is that the policy's survival depends on adequate funding. If premiums are kept at the minimum for too long, the account can be depleted in later years when the cost of insurance is highest, and the policy can lapse. For that reason we never quote universal life without modeling it. We illustrate the policy at a minimum premium and at a target premium, show you the projected account value in later decades and explain which assumptions drive the result. If term or whole life would serve the need more reliably, we say so.

Inside a Universal Life Contract

Each moving part, explained before any application goes in.

  • Permanent coverage

Designed to last for life when funded at an adequate level.

  • Adjustable premium

Payments can be increased or reduced within the contract's limits.

  • Adjustable face amount

The death benefit can be changed as needs evolve, subject to underwriting rules.

  • Interest-crediting account

Premiums above monthly charges accumulate and earn a credited rate.

  • Funding illustrations

Projections at minimum and target premiums so the long-term effect is visible.

  • Lapse risk explanation

We show what would cause the account to run short and how to avoid it.

  • Lower initial premium

Often less than comparable whole life at the outset.

  • Scheduled reviews

Periodic checks of account value against the original projection.

Setting Up Universal Life Correctly

  1. Assess income variability

We gauge the regularity of your earnings and the duration coverage must reach. Those two facts determine whether premium flexibility is worth having.

  2. Illustrate the funding range

We run the policy at a minimum and a target premium and walk through the projected account value at later ages. You see how funding decisions compound.

  3. Issue, then track

Applications are completed jointly over the telephone. After issue, we schedule reviews to compare actual account values with the illustration.

The Discipline We Bring to Universal Life

  • Modeled before it is sold

No universal life quote leaves our office without a funding illustration attached.

  • Attention to later decades

We focus on whether the policy will still be in force when the claim is most likely.

  • Willing to redirect

If another product meets the need more reliably, that is the one we recommend.

  • Funding illustrated
  • Lapse risk explained
  • Reviews scheduled

Coverage That Accommodates Irregular Income

If your earnings vary from year to year, universal life can absorb that variation, provided it is funded with care. Call and we will illustrate it.
